DAWN ANNE RUTLEDGE (VINSON) Aug. 8, 1966 – Sept. 27, 2021
Dawn Anne Rutledge (Vinson) passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Sept. 27, 2021 at home in Los Alamos.
Dawn was born at Sandia Army base in Albuquerque Aug. 8 1966. Dawn and her family moved to White Rock in 1972 where her father went to work for LANL and she attended Los Alamos schools.
Dawn was a graduate from Los Alamos High School Class of 1984. Following high school she then joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After the Army she returned to New Mexico and went to work at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission to help the homeless.
Dawn was a very caring and beautiful person and always tried to help people anyway she could. Dawn was known for her beautiful smile and kind heart. She was also a gifted writer of poetry, and short stories, some of her writings were published and she was very proud of that. Dawn was also known to write Obituaries and Eulogies for family and friends; she had the ability of catching the essence of the individual she was writing about.
Dawn then moved to California were she traveled up and down the Pacific coast for 3 years doing various jobs. She then returned to Los Alamos, where she went to work at the former IT Corporation as an intern. After leaving her job at IT, she then spent the next few years in Los Alamos taking care of her sick mother, and working different jobs around town.
In August of 2001 she met and spent the next 20 loving years with her life partner David N. Dye until her death. Dawn was a 20-year member of The American Legion Post 90 in Los Alamos and served as post Chaplin for many years.
Dawn is survived by her life partner and best friend David N. Dye of Los Alamos; brother Byron Rutledge of Ohio, and by who considered her son Weston Dye of Ely Nevada, and son Dustin Dye of Rio Rancho New Mexico.
Dawn is preceded in in death by her father Gerald W. Rutledge; mother Barbara A. Richardson. She is preceded in death by who she considered her daughter Amberly R. Dye.
