Michael Eli Alvarez was a caring son, husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend.
He passed away in his home March 20, 2022 at the age of 51. He fought a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Michael graduated from Alameda High School in Lakewood, Colorado and went on to receive a Culinary Art degree at the Colorado Institute of Arts. From there, he managed many food service hospital accounts working for Sodexo and Aramark.
He met the love of his life, Carmela, while working at Sodexo. Together, they had two children, Elijah and Levi. He had two other children in a previous marriage as well, Marisa and Zach.
In 2017 Michael moved his family to White Rock, after acquiring a job overseeing both the Los Alamos National Laboratory food service and Nusenda Credit Union in Albuquerque. Michael loved working hard for his family. He enjoyed taking family vacations and had a passion for food.
Michael was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Española, NM. He loved God, and volunteered by helping with potlucks and The Pathfinder’s Club.
Michael is proceeded in death by his mother Helen Webster, brother-in-law Billy Trujillo, uncle Sammy Trujillo, and nephew Andres Chavez.
A viewing for Michael will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Española, NM; 305 Calle Salazar. The following day at 11 a.m. a memorial service will take place at the Española Seventh Day Adventist Church; 613 Bond Street. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos; 901 Range Road.
Pallbearing for Michael will be Mike Salazar, Johnny Trujillo, Kris Knott, Tom Ingales, Jon Webster, Elijah Alvarez, James McWilliams, and Izzak McWilliams. Honored also by Levi Alvarez and Cruz Chavez.
