Please slow down and use caution within the construction work zones. Please note the below information is based on a schedule provided by the contractors and may change due to weather or other delays.
Sherwood Boulevard and Aztec Avenue
Residents on Sherwood Boulevard will be required to enter and exit via Grand Canyon Drive. This closure is necessary to facilitate installation of new storm drainpipe and valley gutter across Aztec Avenue.
Sidewalks will be closed and barricaded to pedestrians while crews remove and replace sections of sidewalk. Traffic devices and detour signs are in place to help motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians navigate around the work zone.
Vehicular access is limited to those who reside in the immediate work area, as well as mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection. For the safety of the traveling public, residents are asked not to remove or relocate traffic control devices, signs, and barricades. Area residents who may have special access needs are asked to contact the Public Works Department at 505.662.8150.
Closure of Sherwood from Grand Canyon to Aztec for this first phase of work is scheduled through the end of June, while closure for the next phase of roadwork from Piedra Loop to Grand Canyon is scheduled for August 2022.
Bixby Electric is working at Piedra Loop and Sherwood Blvd installing a new streetlight at the intersection. Work schedules are subject to change pending weather conditions and any material shipping delays. Work Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Canyon Rim Trail Partial Closure Due To Construction Activities
Contractors for Qualcom Builders (Canyon Walk Apartments) will be periodically placing rock and landscaping along the southside of the Canyon Rim Trail between DP Road and the DP Canyon Bridge 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13. During this activity, the southside of the trail will be closed intermittently when the rock and landscaping is being placed by a small piece of equipment. Contractor employees (flaggers) will be on site to direct trail users safely through the work area during these times. Trail users are asked to use caution and follow the direction of the flaggers during this work.
Traffic & Streets Projects:
The projects listed in this section are being managed by County Traffic & Streets Division staff.

Countywide Striping
Crews will continue striping roads in White Rock and Los Alamos. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic are urged to maintain a safe distance from the striping equipment to prevent getting their property sprayed with paint.
Asphalt Repair on Camino Entrada
Streets crews will be replacing asphalt on Camino Entrada where it has been sinking around a manhole. The work will begin at 8 a.m., Monday, May 9 and be completed by 3:30 p.m. the same day There will be a flagging operation in place.
Sidewalk Repairs On Rover Boulevard And Bryce Avenue
Beginning between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 10 through Friday, May 13, Streets crews will be replacing sections of sidewalk on Bryce Avenue and Rover Boulevard. Sidewalk closures and detour signs will be set along the route. Please watch for and follow all traffic signs.
Concrete trucks will be in the roadway intermittently as needed. Watch for flagging operations and slowdown in these work zones to avoid any accidents.
Non-County Projects:
The following road construction updates are posted below in the interest of keeping residents informed but are being managed or conducted by others. Please obey all traffic devices and slowdown in work zones.
1505 15th Street and Nectar Street Utility Work – Sidewalk Closures & Detours
May 9 through May 10, Cablecom of New Mexico, LLC will be replacing cable along 15th Street and Nectar Street. There will be sidewalk closures along both sides of Nectar (between Rose and 15th) and 15th (between Sage Loop and Nectar). Crews will be boring under the street and pulling new cable.
Crews will set up detour signs for all the sidewalk closures. Please follow all traffic devices and slowdown in these areas to prevent accidents.
