NMDOT News:

SANTA FE — The NMDOT and Mountain States Constructors Inc. began a road reconstruction project Monday on La Bajada Hill entering Santa Fe from MM 264 to MM 267 beginning July 11, 2022.

Motorists can expect lane closures and delays for the first three weeks to construct detour paving outside of normal commuting hours. South Bound traffic will be placed parallel with North Bound traffic.

The reconstruction of the South Bound lanes will include Soil Mixing Columbus to stabilize the roadway, Load Transfer platforms, drainage improvements and roadway reconstructing as part of the Slope Mitigation project.

After the South Bound lanes are reconstructed, traffic will be shifted over to the new South Bound lanes. The North Bound lanes will be reconstructed the same way as the South Bound lanes to include ITS infrastructure. The project is scheduled to be completed November 2024.
