Daily Postcard: Oxeye Daisy spotted July 7 along the East Fork Trail not far from the Las Conchas Trailhead in the Jemez. There are still a few oxeye daisies present, but not nearly the numbers as before the Santa Fe National Forest treated the trail for this non-native invasive species last August (link). Oxeye daisy is an aggressive invasive species. Once established, it can spread rapidly by means of roots and seeds into undisturbed meadows, woodlands, and riparian areas. It forms dense stands that tend to displace native vegetation, especially wildflowers. Source: National Park Service. Photo by Marc Bailey
