PRC News:
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) Nominating Committee will hold its next meeting at 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 29.
This meeting will focus on public participation as the Committee seeks input from stakeholders, including members of the public, as they begin reviewing applications from candidates who best meet the qualifications for serving on the Commission.
Two years ago, New Mexico voters approved a Constitutional amendment changing the makeup of the Commission from an elected to appointed body beginning Jan. 1, 2023. Additionally, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed legislation establishing the PRC Nominating Committee, consisting of seven volunteers with a strong background in public utility regulation tasked with evaluating applicants to fill vacancies on the Commission.
The Committee will recommend at least five candidates to the Governor, who will then appoint three of them to serve on the new Commission, subject to approval by the state Senate.
PRC Nominating Committee meetings take place in Room 307 at the State Capitol and also are available for viewing online on the New Mexico Legislature website. For more information about the Nominating Committee, visit https://www.nm-prc.org/nominating-committee/.
