Laurent: Connecting Our Community Through Enduring Philanthropy

By STEVE LAURENT
Executive Director
Los Alamos Community Foundation

Hello! I’d like to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) and thank you for your support of our organization.

A bit about me – I have returned to Los Alamos after six years in Utah where I worked at a nonprofit focused on affordable housing. Prior to that I lived in Los Alamos for several years, raising a family with my wife, Anne, and working primarily as an attorney in private and public practice.

Like each of you, I’m committed to seeing our community thrive; I am also committed to the mission of LACF – to empower our nonprofit organizations through enduring philanthropy. Our local nonprofits play an essential role in the overall health and success of Los Alamos; we cannot truly prosper as a community without ensuring that each of our residents has the opportunity to thrive. There are many needs to be met, whether basic necessities or life enrichment, and LACF supports our nonprofits as they take on the challenge of addressing these needs.

I look forward to seeing you in the coming months, perhaps at one of our upcoming events. We’re currently planning the fall/winter season to include a training program for nonprofit employees, volunteers and board members as well as our Community Philanthropy Series – educational sessions on connecting responsible tax and financial planning with sustainable giving. Look for future announcements regarding these opportunities as well as an occasional update on the positive impact LACF is making in our community!

In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have questions, comments or would like to learn more about LACF at steve@losalamoscf.org.
