NMDCA News:
Reap the benefits of the harvest at Los Luceros Historic Site (LLHS) Sunday, Sept. 25.
The annual Fall Harvest Festival will transform the site with apple picking, flamenco dancing, arts and food vendors, and ranger-led talks, as the changing season grips Los Luceros.
The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. and end around 4 p.m.
Fall Harvest Festival also will feature the grand opening of “Following the Manito Trail”, a new cultural heritage exhibition that shares the migration experiences, creative practices, and largely untold stories of Manito (Hispanic New Mexican) families from Taos County and its surrounding area.
There will be speakers and an exhibit walkthrough of “Following the Manito Trail” at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room.
Visitors can purchase tickets for Fall Harvest Festival here.
During this time of year, LLHS brims with possibility. Visitors will have the opportunity to pick apples, and even try a heritage Red Delicious, which is much sweeter than the store-bought variety. Local talent will be onsite in full force, including performances from musicians Johnny Sanchez, Steve Chavez, Irene Adams, Vicente Griego and rumba flamenco group ReVoZo and Moving Arts Española.
In prepared talks, the site’s rangers will walk visitors through the convergence of history, nature and culture that makes the fall harvest such a potent time for LLHS.
