County Crews Restore Power To Western Area

Los Alamos County has announced that electric service has been restore to most Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) customers who experienced an early morning power outage today.

The remaining customers without power are situated along Canyon Road between Diamond Drive and the Los Alamos Nature Center.

The outage occurred at 6:38 a.m. and affected all of circuit 13, which covers Western Area, the Ice Rink, Pajarito Mountain Ski Hill and neighborhoods along Trinity Drive down to Oppenheimer Drive.

The outage was caused by an overhead power line failure. Most customers in the area were restored within 2.5 hours.

Customers still without power may be out for a few more hours. These customers include the Gold Street Apartments, Los Alamos Aquatic Center, Canyon Village Apartments, Los Alamos Nature Center and residents near Central Avenue between Canyon and Oppenheimer.
