Los Alamos
This is a response to Hanson and Skolnik’s letter “Calling On Every Local Candidate To Publicly State Stance On 2020 Presidential Election And January 6, 2021 Insurrection” (Letter)
I can only laugh at Hanson and Skolnik’s letter.
Best quote: “Which Candidates are Election Deniers and Why it Matters”
Who are David Hanson and Richard Skolnik? Their letter seems official at first with its “facts that matter” bullet points and “Cosignatories” until we realize that Hanson and Skolnik and their “Cosignatories” are just normal voters like you and me (David Hanson didn’t sign his own letter?!).
Since Los Alamos is a STEM town I ask, “Would we rather have questions that can’t be answered, or answers that can’t be questioned?” From the tone of Hanson and Skolnik’s letter, they fall in the latter part of my question. No questions!
Hanson and Skolnik’s letter seems to be their version of the infamous October Surprise. Pose a “gotcha” question and “call for answers”. What if our local candidates take Katie Hobbs’ approach and run away from questions? What then? Are you going to ask more sternly next time?
I’m left to wonder why can’t we ask questions about an election two years passed, and why just before the upcoming mid-term election? No snooping allowed sounds pretty suspicious to me.
Of course, Hanson and Skolnik have to throw in the “Insurrection!” question. This is the laughable part of their letter.
Governments are people, not buildings. “Insurrectionists” can take over a building, but they haven’t taken over the government. The people who are the government can simply convene in a different building.
p.s. It’s Capitol, not Capital. If you’re going to call for answers from candidates, at least run it through a spell checker first.
