ALBUQUERQUE — Verus® Research, a New Mexico-based team of scientists and engineers specializing in advanced research and development, announces it has renewed its High Power Electromagnetics (HPEM) Empirical Effects support for the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate.

The $19.5 million, five-year contract focuses on understanding and quantifying the effects of HPEM waveforms.

“After a competitive bid and selection process, we are honored to receive the award and renewal of the HPEM contract. It shows the faith and confidence the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate has in Verus Research and our capabilities to support leading-edge testing methodologies,” said Dr. J. Mark DelGrande, chief technology officer at Verus Research.

Verus Research will test the performance of indoor and outdoor effects generating vulnerability data on electronic systems to determine the effectiveness of different HPEM waveform parameters.

It will identify waveforms and the systems that generate them, meeting effectiveness requirements while adhering to size, weight, and power constraints.

In addition, Verus Research will study fundamental effects mechanisms, supporting the development of techniques and models to predict the effectiveness of HPEM waveforms which will augment the empirical testing and modeling.
