The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) has announced that live fractal shows on the first Friday of the month will be returning to the Museum after an absence of nearly three years, beginning Friday, Nov. 4.
Fractals are never-ending, infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop.
NMMNHS, in partnership with The Fractal Foundation, presents a pair of fractal shows for Museum visitors. First Friday Fractals is an award-winning, full-dome planetarium show that takes viewers on a tour of the fractals in nature and zooms through infinitely complex mathematical fractals. Featuring original music, the show is both educational and highly entertaining, and suitable for ages 3 and up. The Museum will host First Friday Fractals screenings at 6 and 7 p.m.
Fractals Rock! shows are more entertainment-oriented, featuring more 3D fractal zooms with less explanation about what fractals are or the Fractal Foundation’s education and outreach. Catch Fractals Rock! at 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (60+), and $5 for kids 3-12 yrs. Tickets are available here.
