Pajarito Astronomers News:

Los Alamos County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Divisions have partnered up with the Pajarito Astronomers for the Dark Night program.

Anyone with an interest in star gazing and the chance to look through a telescope is invited to come out to Spirio Soccer Fields Saturday night, Nov. 19, at Overlook Park in White Rock.

This is the last Dark Night for 2022. Since it will be dark early (and cold) volunteers from the Pajarito Astronomers Club will be present with telescopes 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jupiter and Saturn will be visible before it is entirely dark.

LA County will have the lights out at Overlook Park for the community and Spirio Fields will be available for astronomy use until midnight. This event is free and open to all. Dress warmly and check the weather before heading over.

Arrive around sunset for setting up. The Pajarito Astronomers are planning to set up in the parking lot near the ramps up to Spirio Fields. Bring a red flashlight for safety and, if you are able, please use parking lights when approaching or leaving Spirio Fields when it is dark.

Updates and more information available.
