The Electric Distribution Division of the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will be replacing a failed underground power line at Canyon Road and 39th Street beginning Monday, Dec. 5.

Signs warning motorists and pedestrians of the work will be placed near the corner and the sidewalk and shoulder will be closed along Canyon at the Gold Street Apartments building on that corner.

While scheduled in DPU’s electric reliability plan, the replacement was pushed forward after a fault on that section of line caused a power outage on Circuit 13 Oct. 11.

The scheduled work is not expected to require an outage.

The work is scheduled to occur 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday through Dec. 16, weather permitting.
