County Short-Term Rental Survey Open 2 More Weeks

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County residents are encouraged to participate in a survey to assess the community’s experience with and perceptions of short-term rentals (STRs), and to gauge the degree of STR regulation that the community will support.

The online version of the survey is available here until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Paper copies of the survey are available for pick-up at the County Municipal Building (1000 Central Avenue, Los Alamos), on the first floor, at either the Customer Care Center or in the Community Development Department (Suite 150) lobby. Paper surveys must be returned to either location by 5 p.m., Friday, March 24.

Short-term rentals, also known as vacation rentals, are now a mainstay in most communities and Los Alamos County is no exception. The STR program project aims to define the market in the County, assess benefits and drawbacks, and incorporate public input. The ultimate goal of the project is the Council’s adoption of an ordinance that establishes a mechanism for STRs to legally operate in the County as part of a program that effectively manages neighborhood impacts.

CDD Planning Division has partnered with STR program experts Wilson & Company to help develop the program. To learn more about STRs in the County, go to https://www.livehostvisitlac.org/.
