Los Alamos Jewish Center News:
The Jewish cycle of reading the Five Books of Moses over the course of the year continues this week with a focus on the passage in Torah (the Jewish bible) known as Sh’lach Lecha, Numbers 13:1-15:41.
The Los Alamos Jewish Center and congregation HaMakom in Santa Fe, led by Rabbi Jack Shlachter, will hold a Zoom-only discussion at noon Wednesday, June 14. Those gathered will be examining the mistake made by the scouts when they investigated the conditions in Israel following the Exodus. And will also be contrasting the advice given to the Israelites after the disastrous response to the scout’s report with the guidance from Kohelet in the Book of Ecclesiastes.
“Should we follow the desires of our heart and eyes or shouldn’t we?”
Tune in noon Wednesday to find out what contemporary and ancient sages say about enjoying the pleasures of life.
