Local cannabis retailer Wheeed! has been selected by HIGH TIMES Magazine to be an official judge-kit distributor in the inaugural HIGH TIMES Cannabis Cup New Mexico.

Owner Jonathan LeDuc was interviewed and selected for this honor as 1 of 7 vendors and 1 of 23 cannabis retail establishments in the state of New Mexico.

According to their website, “The HIGH TIMES Cannabis Cup is the world’s leading cannabis competition, festival and trade show, celebrating the world of ganja through competitions, instructional seminars, expositions, celebrity appearances, concerts, product showcases and more…” (https://www.cannabiscup.com/about/)

The Cannabis Cup was founded in Amsterdam in 1988 as a globally recognized cannabis competition, judged by pre-selected cannabis aficionados around the world. In its current evolution, the judging takes place by everyday consumers in states where cannabis has been legalized. 

Judging kits will be distributed between chosen retailers across the state, ranging in price from $80-$200+ tax. Each kit is compiled by product type- from flower (indicia, sativa, and hybrid categories) to edibles, to topicals- and contains a variety of production brands from all over the state. Each kit will also include a limited edition High Times Cannabis Cup tote bag. Over the years, this competition has provided a notable economic benefit to the chosen winners, as well as bringing lesser-known distributors to consumers who might not otherwise have the exposure. 

Wheeed! will hold a kickoff event 9 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at 555 Oppenheimer Dr., Suite 100. Food and music will be available throughout the day, and popular cannabis vendor, Bloom, will have a pop-up booth 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wheeed! will have a limited number of judge kits available. Kits will be sold on a first come first served basis. This is a 21+ event and note that cannabis cannot be consumed onsite.
