Daily Postcard: A mule deer shows off its growing antlers while grazing recently at Bandelier National Monument. When antlers are busy growing in, they are covered in a layer of skin with short, dense fur known as velvet. The velvet layer allows oxygen rich blood to reach the growing antlers.
