Los Alamos County Library System To Host Quarterly Yoga Book Club In Los Alamos And White Rock

COUNTY News:

Anyone interested in learning more about yoga and sharing their practice with like-minded people while also being a part of a book club is invited to join the quarterly yoga book club at the local libraries.

The book club has grown so popular that the program will be held two weeks in a row, one at each library location. The first session 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the White Rock branch library. The second session is 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Mesa Public Library.

The library system is entering the second annual cycle of quarterly book clubs with a discussion of the title, Shiva Dancing at King Arthur’s Court by Bernie Clark. Participants can expect to spend up to 45 minutes breathing, moving and enjoying mindful stillness before engaging in a discussion about the selected book.

Copies of the book are available for check out at both libraries and electronically through the online catalog. While participants are encouraged to check out and read the book ahead of time, it is not necessary to participate. Simply attending the program and learning about the concepts through discussion will help participants deepen their practice and decide if they’d like to read the book later.

The quarterly book clubs are facilitated by local certified yoga therapist, Jacci Gruninger, MS,C-IAYT. The program is free and participants may attend both sessions as long as seats are available. Registration is required. For more information, visit the event calendar at LosAlamosLibrary.org or call 505.662.8257.
