NMSP: Albuquerque Man Arrested For Aggravated Battery Upon Peace Officer

ALBUQUERQUE — Sept. 11, 2023, the New Mexico State Police Auto Theft Unit was called to assist the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Auto Theft Unit in regard to numerous calls involving a suspicious pickup truck at a 7-11 gas station in the area of Coors Blvd and Gun Club.

NMSP agents located the pick-up truck, which was occupied by Louie Cadena, (27) of Albuquerque at the 7-11 Gas Station on Coors Blvd and Gun Club. As agents attempted to make contact with Cadena, he began to ram multiple police units in an attempt to flee the scene.

Agents deployed non-lethal munitions. Cadena exited the pick-up truck and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Cadena was taken into custody without further incident. Agents conducted an inquiry on the pick-up through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). The 2005 Chevy pickup truck was confirmed stolen out of Albuquerque. 

Cadena was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Count 1: Aggravated Battery upon a Peace Officer x2 
  • Count 2: Resisting, Evading or Obstructing an Officer x3.
  • Count 3: Receiving / transferring stolen motor vehicle. 
  • Cadena also had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.
