NASA’s Charles ‘Chuck’ Tatro

In the days leading up to the annular eclipse Saturday, Oct. 14, NASA representative Charles “Chuck” Tatro will host two public outreach events.

He will meet with library patrons and all interested members of the public to give out free NASA eclipse glasses, as well as stickers and information about some of the NASA missions currently studying our Sun. The information will focus on some of the most recently launched solar science missions, including the Solar Orbiter and the Parker Solar Probe. Tatro will also talk about the eclipse path and give viewing tips.

Tatro grew up in Los Alamos and is returning home to view the Oct. 14. eclipse. Tatro works for the NASA Launch Services Program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. His group is responsible for launching all of NASA’s and NOAA’s scientific spacecraft. See his bio here: Charles Tatro NASA Bio 

These two outreach events are good opportunities to secure free glasses for members of the public who want to safely view the eclipse but do not plan to attend the community viewing event at the Los Alamos High School courtyard Oct. 14.
