LAMTA News:
The Los Alamos Music Teachers Association (LAMTA) presents some of the results of the 2023 Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico (PMTNM), NE-1 District, Honors music competition.
Students from four of the local studios and one studio from Taos, participated in this event Saturday, Oct. 21 at UNM-Los Alamos.
The judges were Dr. Jessie Lo and Dr. Jacquelyn Helin. Music was performed on the piano.
First Place Winners:
- LEVEL 1 (ages 9 and under): ELIZABETH HSU; Kim Bakkum (Taos, NM), teacher
“The Cat and The Mouse” by Aaron Copland - LEVEL 2 (ages 10-11): HANNAH LI; Aejin Chang, teacher
“Grand Waltz Brillante in E flat Major”, Op 18 by Frederic Chopin - LEVEL 3 (ages 12-13): JULIA LEE ROBEL; Juanita Madland, teacher
“Solfeggietto in c minor” by CPE Bach - LEVEL 4 (ages 14-15): MATTHEA FUNG; Wendy Ge, teacher
“Fantasie Impromptu”, Op 66 by Frederic Chopin - LEVEL 5 (ages 16-17): JINHEON KIM; Dr. Haewon Yang, teacher
“Etude”, Op 25, #11 by Frederic Chopin

A shoutout of congratulations to all contestants, winners and teachers. The music was exceptional and listening to the entries was quite joyful. The judges clearly had their work cutout for them.
