Loma Linda Road Improvements Project
Albuquerque Asphalt, Inc. will continue work in the Loma Linda neighborhood. Loma Linda will continue to be closed to thru traffic through Oct. 26. Residents will be required to utilize La Tierra Road for access through Loma Linda Drive. This closure is necessary to facilitate installation of backfill along the new valley gutter that crosses Loma Linda Drive.
The Contractor will ensure ingress and egress to residents’ homes as much as possible and coordinate driveway apron reconstruction. In addition, services such as mail delivery, trash and recycling collection, school bus, and emergency services will always be maintained.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution around construction activities and avoid entering the work zone.
Loma Linda neighborhood Halloween festivities will continue as normally scheduled. Work Zone traffic control will be cleared, and all sidewalks will be open.
Hours of work will be 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The project is scheduled for completion in June 2024 with a winter weather suspension period.

Asphalt Repairs on San Ildefonso Road Continues
Crews will be repairing sections of asphalt on San Ildefonso Road between Tsankawi and Alamo Rd. There will be a flagging operation in place. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Pedestrians and vehicle traffic are urged to watch for warning signs and be aware of potential hazards. Trail Closure for Repairs on Arizona Ave.
Crews have closed a trail between 3115 and 3135 Arizona Ave. that runs towards Woodland Rd. Weather permitting, the trail will be closed for repairs until Oct. 25.
In addition to the trail closure, the sidewalk in front of 3135 Arizona will be closed while they repair concrete. For more information regarding this closure, contact Richard Marquez at 505.695.3672.
Lower Ridgeway Road Lane Closure begins October 23rd
Weather permitting, streets crews will be closing the north side lane just east of 36th Street to repair a section of asphalt. There will be a flagging operation in place. Work will begin Oct. 23, work hours will be 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily until the project is completed. For more information contact Matthew Salazar at 505.412.5144.
Road Closed to Through Traffic on North Road Begins Wednesday, Oct. 25
Weather permitting, Streets crews will be closing the section of North Road between Urban Street and Sycamore to repair asphalt. The road will be closed to through traffic. Vehicle traffic will be detoured at Urban and 42nd St., and at North Rd and 42nd St. Work will begin Wednesday, Oct. 25 and be completed by Thursday, Oct. 26. The following construction project are not funded by Los Alamos County. Updates are included to keep residents informed of potential traffic impacts.

Flagging Operation Continues on Sandia Drive, 49th St., and West Trinity Drive
Cablecom, LLC will continue performing aerial/overhead overlash work along the south side of West Trinity Drive, the east side of 49th St., and the north side of Sandia Drive. A moving flagging operation will be in place. Weather permitting, work should be completed by Oct. 31. Work hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Orange Street Shoulder Work
Cablecom, LLC will continue performing aerial/overhead overlash work on the north side of Orange Street by the Family Strengths Network. The shoulder area will be closed. Weather permitting, the work should be completed by Oct. 31. Work hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For information regarding this project, contact Adrian Rivas at 505.225.5967.
Utility Work on East and West Trinity Drive Continues
Cablecom, LLC will be pulling cable overhead and underground along the north side of Trinity Drive beginning at 37th St. and continuing toward West Trinity. Weather permitting, this portion of the project will continue through October 31st.
A bike lane and sidewalk closure will be in place along the southwest corner of Trinity at Diamond Drive, as well as along Diamond at the northwest corner at the intersection of West Trinity. The sidewalk along the north side of Trinity will be closed from 36th St. to the west side of Trinity. Additionally, on Diamond, the northbound lanes and bike lane from the intersection of West Road to Canyon Road may be impacted. The contractor will be attempting to accommodate the bike lane and stage their equipment on private property except for the southwest intersection of West Trinity at Diamond. Field modifications to the bike lanes may be necessary, including possibly having to share the road with motorists.

NNSA – NM 4/East Jemez Road Intersection Improvement Project
Phase 3 work underway

Phase 3 traffic impacts are as follows:
Phase 3 work includes the areas shown in red as in the accompanying image with the following travel lane configurations:
NM 4:
- Northbound: One through lane open and one left turn lane available to enter E. Jemez Road
- Southbound: One through lane open and one right turn lane available to enter E. Jemez Road
NOTE: Southbound motorists on NM 4 wishing to turn right and travel west on E. Jemez Road will need to enter the NEW RIGHT-TURN LANE IN ADVANCE OF THE INTERSECTION, as right turns directly at the intersection are prohibited. Right turns must YIELD to traffic on E. Jemez Road.
Jemez Road:
- One lane of travel is open in each direction (eastbound and westbound).
- The Bandelier National Monument Tsankawi Unit and parking area remains closed until further notice.
An additional phase will follow, with the project expected to be completed in late 2023 or in the spring of 2024.

To help reduce congestion, commuters are encouraged to carpool, vanpool, or take one of the many bus options. Atomic City Transit is available for Los Alamos locals, and multiple buses and park-and-ride shuttles currently serve the Laboratory, including the new Pojoaque Express that transports workers directly to TA-35 and TA-55 from the Cities of Gold Casino parking lot.
