SANTA FE — The New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) announces a unique opportunity for Nations, Pueblos and Tribes to access not one, but two funding sources for urgent infrastructure projects, courtesy of the State Legislature’s Fiscal Year 2024 grants.
- Emergency Infrastructure Funding – Act Fast! In response to pressing infrastructure needs, the Emergency Infrastructure Funding – Chapter 199, Section 25, has earmarked $1,188,040 for emergency infrastructure projects.
The application period opened Friday, Dec. 1 and closes 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2023.

- You must also submit a letter from Tribal Leadership describing the need for the emergency Infrastructure Fund. The letter must be sent to janelle.frederick@iad.nm.gov.
- Federal Infrastructure Grants Matching Funds – Grab Your Share!
In a groundbreaking move, the State Legislature allocated $12.5 million for Federal Infrastructure Grants Matching Funds. This fund is available for matching with Federal.
Infrastructure Grant Awards. Act swiftly as the application window opened Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are expended.
How to Apply: Submit the following required documentation to janelle.frederick@iad.nm.gov:
- The Tribe’s designated main point of contact and information;
- A copy of the Notice of Grant Award or Notice of Funding Award;
- Grant name, grant number, title, and federal agency awarding the grant;
- Federal grant amount;
- Request for matching funds; and
- Matching funding must be expended by June 30, 2024.
