CHAMBER News:
The Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the opening of the new cafe “Sugar & Cream” with a ribbon cutting 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at 1789 Central Ave. in downtown Los Alamos.
Pig + Fig Café Owner and Executive Chef Laura Crucet is opening her second restaurant in Los Alamos County, expanding to downtown Los Alamos in the MainStreet District, in the former Starbucks space. “Sugar & Cream” will offer coffee, house made pastries and gelato. Sugar & Cream will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
“I have a deep commitment to this community and believe there is tremendous potential for our downtown district. I’m happy to be part of that growth,” Crucet said. “Sugar & Cream is a space for friends, families and neighbors to enjoy gathering for comfort food by the spoonful.”
Crucet is a Texas native whose culinary career spans more than 25 years and two continents. She is a graduate of the world-famous Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. In January of 2016, she opened the Pig + Fig Café in White Rock where she combined her passion for gourmet comfort food with her love and appreciation of wine. Since opening Pig + Fig, Crucet has received numerous awards including Best Chef in Greater New Mexico (Edible Magazine), Best Woman Owned Business (Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce), Best Restaurant in Los Alamos (Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce) and 15 Best Small Town Restaurants Across the U.S. (Travel Awaits).
“The Chamber, Los Alamos MainStreet and LACDC are delighted to celebrate another new local business expansion and congratulate Laura on opening Sugar & Cream,” Chamber Director Ryn Herrmann said.
