The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (NMDCA) presents Family Mornings at New Mexico Museum of Folk Art 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024.
Keeping Warm in celebration of their exhibit “Ghhúunayúkata / To Keep Them Warm: The Alaska Native Parka” Special guest Priscilla Hensley, writer and documentarian who grew up in Alaska, will join NMDCA to share stories from her childhood and Inupiaq heritage.
The hands-on art project will connect with keeping warm during the cold months of the year, and how cultures around the world make their warm clothing beautiful and meaningful. Children and their parents will be making their own custom sized felt mittens and decorating them.
The program is always free and focuses on preK-3rd grade but is appropriate and fun for all ages.
