COMMUNITY News:

Ever get bored on a Tuesday night? Want a new hobby that’s social, fun, and keeps you on your feet?? Come dance at the American Legion!

The American Legion will host partner dance lessons at 7 p.m. Tuesday nights and Saturday nights. At 8 p.m., the dance floor will be open floor as they play music from a speaker. Dance styles taught will vary from country swing, jazz swing and Latin dance. Lessons will sometimes include fun line dances (sequences of steps everyone does on the dance floor together).

These dances are intended to be fun and social: no cost for entry! Located upstairs at the American Legion in Los Alamos. Feel free to ask to learn new moves during the open dance.

The American Legion is behind Mui Salsas at the end of the driveway. Open dance may last beyond 11 p.m. Attendance at the lesson is not necessary, so if you want to only show up for the open dance, that is totally fine.

We like to rotate partners to improve our coordination and learn something new, but if you aren’t comfortable with switching partners, you can do what you want.

The bar is downstairs from the venue in case you get thirsty … obviously, no minors are allowed into the bar, but they are welcome to come (through the west side door) for the dance!

Dancing is a great way to be social: make new friends, have a fun hobby that makes you smile, and express yourself creatively. Whether you’re totally new to dancing or are already a practiced dancer, come and dance with us!

To get updates on details of the partner dance lessons, join the Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/partnerdanceamericanlegion/ or reach out to the admin of the group, Jacob Thompson. A general schedule will also be posted at the American Legion bar.
