COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos Public Library invites the public to an information session 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Mesa Public Library in the Zone.
The library proposes the development of an open-air classroom situated between Mesa Public Library and the Betty Ehart Senior Center.
This public input listening session will establish project parameters and gather initial thoughts and challenges from community members. All members of the community are encouraged to attend.
In support of the Los Alamos Public Library and Los Alamos County’s missions, the library proposes this open-air classroom to expand and diversify library programs and events to a new, outdoor space. Here, the library will benefit from the open, yet intimate environment in nature that will suit many of the library’s programming needs.
In addition to use by the library, other community entities, such as the Betty Ehart Senior Center, will have access to this classroom in nature for their own programming.
Input from the public received at the April 6 session will be prepared and incorporated into a draft design, along with other feedback from community members and neighboring organizations. A final draft will then be presented to the public for additional feedback on the proposed design.
For more information about this information session, the proposed outdoor classroom, or the library, contact Library Manager Gwen Kalavaza at gwen.kalavaza@lacnm.us or 505.662.8264. Public input may also be sent to gwen.kalavaza@lacnm.us until April 20, 2024.
