Toppers Storm Into District Semifinals In Team Competition

The Varsity tennis District Pool tournament was held at Taos on April 19-20, 2024. The boys topped their pool while the girls placed second, qualifying for the District Semifinals. 

The boys were undefeated in their pool, beating Española (6-0), St. Michaels (5-0) and Taos (9-0).

The girls fell narrowly to eventual winners Espanola (4-5) but beating St. Mike’s (5-4) and Taos (6-3). The boys’ lineup consisted of Ryan Sood, Aditya Viswanathan, Nicholas Witkowski, Micheal Witkowski, Andres Iturregui, Cam McDonald and Axel Niklasson.

The Lady Toppers were represented by Sofia Parra, Nailah Quartey, Sabrina Kelley, Tessa Lemke, Alea Kretz, Olivia Hamilton, Caris Hatler and Lucia Rudin.

Both teams face Robertson next Friday in the Semis in Sante Fe for a shot at the District title. The championship matches will be played on Sunday.
