Plans Underway For 2024 County Fair & Rodeo Parade

Are you looking forward to the next parade in Los Alamos and do you want to participate this year? Los Alamos County Recreation Division is organizing the 2024 Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo Parade and we would love for you to join in on the fun!

We invite you to join Los Alamos County and other partnering organizations on Aug. 3 to be in the parade! This hometown parade is a highlight of Los Alamos County’s Fair and Rodeo weekend. The parade brings locals and visitors to downtown Los Alamos to celebrate the western roots of the community.

This event is organized by the Los Alamos County Recreation Division, in partnership with local businesses and organizations. The 2024 parade theme is: Roping the Dream Although there is no limit to how long your entry can be, the height has to be low enough to fit under the stop lights on Central Avenue. All floats with combustibles (other than the vehicle’s engine) will need Fire Department approval.

Registration for the parade begins May 15, via Eventbrite and registration is free, no matter what kind of entry you have.

The Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo is still being planned, but below are a few highlights. You can learn more by visiting the Fair & Rodeo event page, or by following us on Facebook. County Fair exhibits, organized by the NMSU Co-operative Extension office will begin preregistration of all items, as well as non-perishable items starting July 1-19. Perishable items will be accepted starting Aug. 1.

Saturday Aug. 3 will be full of activities starting at 9 a.m. with the festival and fair at Ashley Pond Park. Don’t forget to claim your spot on Central Avenue for the Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. and is  hosted by Los Alamos County Recreation Division.

Fill the afternoon with the Rodeo starting at 2 p.m. at Brewer Arena on North Mesa and conclude the evening with the Cowboy Dinner and Dance starting at 5 p.m. at the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Posse Lodge, also on North Mesa.

Rodeo Weekend continues on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. with Stroll the Stables, at the North Mesa Stables.
