Snakes are definitely out and about in Los Alamos County. Aven Heavner, a 14-year-old resident of North Mesa, relocates a gopher/bull snake from a friend’s yard to a more friendly and less human congested area. She supported this snake with both hands plus she relocated it close to where found but in an unpopulated area. Great job Aven!

Just a reminder that if a snake is unwanted or venomous, please call the police dispatcher at  505.662.8222. They have a list of those who will relocate snakes. Animal Control will also relocate snakes when on duty. Snakes are a valuable ally to humans in taking care of rodents that can spread disease. No reason to harm any snake. Thank you.
