SAINT JOB OF POCHAIV News:
His eminence Archbishop DANIEL will be making his annual visit to Saint Job of Pochaiv Orthodox Church this month in Los Alamos. At 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13 Father Theophan and the parishioners of the church will greet him with the ringing of the new bells, and with bread and salt, flowers and Holy Water.
During his visit and in the midst of the Divine Liturgy, the Archbishop will tonsure two local faithful parishioners to the rank of “Reader”. A reader is the first rank of the minor orders of clergy, but it represents a lifelong commitment to service and the Church. They are required to read Scripture and preparatory prayers in the services.
For Orthodox Christians the Holy Ascension of the Lord is commemorated June 13 this year, always a Thursday, 40 days after the Resurrection at Pascha.
This year, Ascension marks the 10-year anniversary of Father Theophan’s ordination to the Holy Priesthood. Anyone whose life has been impacted by Father Theophan’s ministry, and his family’s ministry, is invited to attend the special liturgy that morning and celebrate this milestone. A luncheon will be provided following the service.
There will also be an open house with Archbishop DANIEL 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13 for anyone in the community who would like to speak with him, be introduced to the church, or have their questions answered.
