Another Primary Election drew to a close last night. Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas attributed the relatively low turnout of 2,764 voters to the fact that many of the races were unopposed.

The results below show the full final report of the election with all sites reporting in Los Alamos County.  Those numbers remain unofficial until certified by the New Mexico Secretary of State. The County’s Canvass Board will meet next week to certify the results at the local level.

Each of the three Los Alamos County Council candidates on the Democratic ticket took time Wednesday to express their appreciation to the voters.

“A heartfelt thank you to those who voted for me in the primary election,” incumbent Denise Derkacs said. “I humbly ask for your continued support through the general election so that I can continue to work on behalf of our county residents.”

“I want to thank everyone who came out to vote in the Primary and I am looking forward to working hard to earn their vote in the General Election in November,” Beverly Neal-Clinton said.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to vote in the Primary,” Ryn Herrmann said. “A vote for me is a vote for the small business community. I appreciate the support!”

On the Republican side incumbent David Reagor, who is running unopposed, also expressed his gratitude.

“I want to thank those who came out to support the candidates … there weren’t any contentious issues in this election so I was vey happy to see those who made an extra effort to come out and show their support,” Reagor said.

Dist. 43 Rep. Christine Chandler commended voters for their participation.

“I very much appreciate everyone who voted in the Primary Election and am looking forward to being out in the community, engaging with people … I am very interested in hearing their interests and concerns as we move toward the November election,” Rep. Chandler said.
