NMVFO News:

SANTA FE — A group from “New Mexico Volunteers for the Outdoors” (NMVFO) successfully cleared downed trees and debris from three trails in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness of the Cuba Ranger District.

Twelve volunteers, supported by five members of the Jemez Chapter of Back Country Horsemen, successfully removed 202 downed trees along 3.3 miles of the Palomas, Perchas and Penas Negras trails.

The work was completed between June 13 and 16. To view a map of these cleared trails and others recently completed by NMVFO, visit https://nmvfo.org/map/.

“I’m really proud that our volunteer team was able to clear all of the trails from Palomas Trailhead to the North end of the Penas Negras trail over a four-day period,” NMVFO Project Team Leader Christy Osmon said.

Recreation Management Director John Hennard on the Cuba Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest, added “We’re grateful for all the hard work NMVFO and BCH-Jemez chapter did on these trails–we couldn’t keep the trails cleared without this additional support”.
