New Mexico Consortium: ‘Very Large Array’ Lecture July 15

A public lecture, Q&A and art exhibit on the National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope will soon occur in Los Alamos. 

The “Your State of Science Series”, hosted by the New Mexico Consortium and ScienceFest/Los Alamos MainStreet, in partnership with Zia Credit Union, is bringing Professor Patricia Henning, Associate Director for New Mexico Operations, National Radio Astronomy Observatory to Los Alamos.

Prof. Henning will present a public lecture and Q&A on the Very Large Array Radio Telescope at 6 p.m. July 15 at the SALA Los Alamos Event Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The first 75 people attending the lecture will receive a coupon for free admission to visit the telescope, located in central New Mexico on the Plains of San Agustin, between the towns of Magdalena and Datil, approximately 50 miles west of Socorro. Directly after the lecture, at 7 p.m., the SALA Los Alamos Event Center will be showing the film Contact, which features the telescope. Reserve movie tickets at  sala.losalamos.com/tickets/.
