Friday, July 19 features the first Latin Dance night of the 2024 season starring Albuquerque-based multi-generational family band El Gozao, sponsored by N3B Los Alamos.

The opening act at 6 p.m. is New Mexico’s up and coming sensation Maiya, sponsored by New Mex Records and New Mex Radio, with the headliner coming on at 7 p.m., all free at Ashley Pond Park.

For nearly four years now, El Gozao has been making a name for itself in the Latin music scene, a cumbia group comprised of the Escobedo family whose covers and originals are Puro Gozao. The family band has one album out and has toured across New Mexico, Texas and Colorado with its cumbia music.

Inspired by older cumbia-style music, the group brings a new flair to the style while maintaining their originality. Each year, El Gozao attends the multi-day music festival Fiesta in Santa Antonio to play for their Texas fan base. https://www.youtube.com/@Elgozaoabq.
