Life After 50: Show Us Your True Colors

Champions of Youth Ambitions

Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) is asking the community to celebrate on the first Friday in September. The date is the 6th to be precise and many years ago, it was called, “College Day”. We were asked to call it College & Military Day, which helped to demonstrate different paths of education.

I’m not sure what to call it this year, but ask people to show their love of education, in whatever way you see fit. Perhaps you received a welding certificate, became a licensed plumber, massage therapist, cosmetologist, barber or air traffic controller. On Sept. 6 show us what you’re most proud of, who or what got you to where you are today?

Elementary and middle school students can show us their school colors. Maybe you want to go to a school/program and just aren’t there yet. What makes you strive, as Chamisa Elementary would say, “To  Put Your Best Foot Forward.” When in doubt, just pick your favorite or the one of someone you love.

You can send your name and photos to us via email at cya.org@att.net, send them through Facebook to Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) or drop us a text at 505.695.9139.

This is just a simple activity that doesn’t need to cost a lot of money or time. This is a small way, to bring us all together based on nothing to do with your educational level, social or political background. Hopefully, we are all proud of something or someone, we just want you to share.

If that something is a great local or national program like, Rotary, Kiwanis, Leadership Los Alamos, the Elks Club or a school-based program, shout it out. On that day, wear a jersey, club shirt or sticker. Remember, we can all be Hilltoppers in Los Alamos, and I am certain their online store is ready and waiting for you.
