As part of the Oppenheimer Festival 2024, the SALA Event Center is proud to present a unique event titled “J. Robert Oppenheimer: A Rare View of the Laboratory’s First Director.” This exclusive presentation, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29, will offer attendees an unparalleled look into the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the first director of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
Alan B. Carr, a distinguished historian from LANL, will connect via Zoom to lead this presentation. He will provide insights into Oppenheimer’s life through an array of primary source materials, including rarely seen photographs, audio recordings, video footage, and documents from LANL’s National Security Research Center, many of which have never before been shared with the public.
This event is part of the SALA Event Center’s Parallel Cinema series, which aims to provide audiences with a deeper understanding of historical events and figures, complementing the Oppenheimer Festival’s broader offerings.
