Bandelier News:
Bandelier National Monument is hosting an event to celebrate National Public Lands Day Saturday, Sept. 28.
There will be opportunities for visitors to learn about public lands: different Bandelier divisions, such as Resource Management, Fire Management, Administration and more will be setting up tables to talk about their work and how it connects to the park.
Visitors are also invited to participate in a cleanup of areas recently affected by flash flooding. Other activities include a litter pickup around the visitor center, programs about Leave No Trace and more.
In addition, Bandelier will waive all entrance fees Saturday, Sept. 28 in celebration of National Public Lands Day.
Please note that parking in Frijoles Canyon is limited. It is common for parking lots to reach full capacity. When this happens, visitors are not permitted to enter, and are asked to return later in the day. It is recommended to arrive before 9 a.m. or after 3 p.m. to avoid parking lot congestion.
Bandelier National Monument protects, preserves, and interprets an outstanding portion of the Pajarito Plateau, including one of the largest concentrations of Ancestral Pueblo archaeological sites in the American Southwest. The park provides opportunities for people to connect with and enjoy a diversity of cultural and natural resources, striking scenery, wildlife habitats, remnants of a volcanic landscape, and wilderness.
