Update From Los Alamos Library Board September Meeting

COUNTY News:

September’s Los Alamos County Library Board meeting included exciting news from Digital Services Senior Librarian Daniel Gaghan – updates to the library’s website are underway.

After internal testing by staff, there will be an opportunity for community members to volunteer to test the new website. The website will have a similar look and feel to the County’s website, but the library catalog will remain in its current form. This will be a great opportunity for residents to share thoughts on how the library website can best serve the community. Stay tuned for more information.

Following another successful Atomicon at the end of August, library programming continues to offer up something fun for everyone. Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts can join a 6-week campaign starting Sept. 24. If art is more of interest, stop by the Step Up Gallery, which is opening a new exhibit at the end of  September. For all the bookworms in Los Alamos County, drop by the upper rotunda of Mesa Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month for Silent Library Club.

In addition to activities inside the library, it’s hard to miss the activity going on outside the library. The current phase of Bathtub Row construction should only last a few weeks. All community members and library patrons are encouraged to exercise caution when navigating the temporary road changes and parking disruptions.

Some less visible outside activities are the ongoing plans for the outdoor classroom. Staff will be meeting with architects later this month to review the second iteration of designs for what will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to Mesa Public Library.

The next Library Board meeting is Oct. 7, at the Municipal Building and on Zoom. Send questions or suggestions to the Library Board at lb@lacnm.us.
