NMSP News:

ALBUQUERQUE – On Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was called to investigate a shooting at 4501 Indian School Road NE in Albuquerque.

State Police Investigations Bureau agents learned, that at around 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, a security guard working for Securitas Security Services assigned to the CYFD building, observed a male identified as Casey McCray, 36, sleeping on the property.

The security guard advised McCray that he was trespassing and had to leave the property. McCray grabbed a cannister of bear spray from his backpack and sprayed the security guard. The security guard then fired at least one round from his duty firearm, striking McCray.

When NMSP officers arrived on scene, they began life saving measures on McCray until EMS personnel arrived and transported McCray to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is currently in stable condition. The security guard was interviewed and later released.

This case is under investigation by the NMSP Investigations Bureau.
