Scenes From Central Park Square Mural Ribbon Cutting

From left, Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce Director Sandy Jones, MainStreet and Creative District Executive Director Jacquelyn Connelly, artist Andrew Fearnside, MainStreet and Creative District Event Manager Alison Watkins and Los Alamos County Councilor Randall Ryti snip the ribbon Saturday morning to officially welcome a new mural into Central Park Square. The festivities were a part of the 2024 Day of Arts and Culture event. The mural, which was created by Fearnside, was made possible through a New Mexico Resiliency Alliance grant, Connelly said. Shade structures and solar-powered lighting were added, too, and the hope is to provide seating, she said. Connelly also credited Central Park Square owners, Metzger’s Do It Best, former Chamber Director Ryn Herrmann and student assistant Blue Engeman for making the mural possible.
