Daily Postcard: Tiny Bushtit In Upper Los Alamos Canyon

Daily Postcard: Saturday, Oct. 12 was Cornell University’s Global Big Day, challenging birders worldwide to report all the birds they could find. That citizen-science project makes a global snapshot of biodiversity, adding to the millions of observations in Cornell’s eBird ornithology database. Twenty-three birders in Los Alamos found at least 61 species Saturday, with reports still rolling in. Worldwide, 39,383 birders found 7,610 species in one day. Read all about it at https://ebird.org/octoberbigday. Jonathan Dowell reported 40 of the Los Alamos species and took this photo of a tiny Bushtit along the Reservoir Road in Upper Los Alamos Canyon.
