SFNF Collaborative Fuelwood Programs Underway

SFNF News:

Starting today, two collaborative fuelwood programs will offer pickup and delivery of firewood to residents of Mora and San Miguel counties.

“We are honored to partner with two local organizations, Leña Para Los Abuelitos and the Santa Fe Community Foundation, in collaboration with Neighbors Helping Neighbors, to provide firewood from post-fire recovery efforts to local communities that rely on wood for heating their homes,” Forest Supervisor Shaun Sanchez said.

In addition to issuing Free Use Dead and Down permits within the Hermit’s Peak Calf Canyon burned area, the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) aims to process a total of 2,500 cords of hazard trees removed from Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) roads into fuelwood for community members affected by access issues on Forest Service roads.
