NMTLA News:
ALBUQUERQUE — A smile can brighten even the toughest days, and this holiday season, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association (NMTLA) aims to bring that joy to young patients and their families. Through their 29th Annual Food & Toy Drive, NMTLA is partnering with the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) Children’s Hospital to deliver holiday magic to children from communities across New Mexico.
With a goal of raising $60,000 by Thanksgiving, the NMTLA Food & Toy Drive supports children in all four of UNMH’s pediatric units, ensuring that those undergoing treatment can still experience the joy of the holiday season. Since its inception in 1996, the NMTLA Food & Toy Drive has raised more than $1 million, making the season brighter for countless families.
Justin Kaufman, Chair of the NMTLA Food & Toy Drive, expressed his appreciation for collaborating with UNMH’s dedicated healthcare providers to spread holiday cheer.
“Seeing the smiles on the faces of these kids, along with the nurses and doctors who care for them, is truly heartwarming. The joy a simple gift can bring is a reminder of what the season is all about,” Kaufman said. “Trial lawyers are committed to fighting for those most in need both inside and outside the courtroom, and it’s an honor to stand with these children, their families, and the providers who care for them.”
Dr. Anna Duran, Chief Medical Officer at UNM Children’s Hospital, shared her gratitude for the impact of the Toy Drive, saying, “These kids endure so much, but at the end of the day, they are still children who want to feel joy and excitement, especially during the holidays. This partnership with NMTLA shows these kids how special and loved they are, and that their community cares.”
As the only dedicated children’s hospital in New Mexico, UNM Children’s Hospital serves young patients from every corner of the state. NMTLA members are rallying to reach the $60,000 goal to ensure every child at UNMH experiences the warmth and happiness of the holiday season.
