This year marks the fifth year Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant Sandra Salazar has hosted the Annual Adopt a Grandparent event. During the holiday season, generous community members and Mary Kay customers help make the holidays special by providing a special gift.
This year, 63 residents of the Sombrillo Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Los Alamos were adopted, as well as 29 residents of the Life Spire Assisted Living facility in Rio Rancho.
Stockings stuffed with Mary Kay lotion, warm fuzzy socks, and a stuffed animal were delivered Dec. 19 to Sombrillo in Los Alamos.
The delivery to Rio Rancho is scheduled this coming week. Bringing joy and showing kindness during the holiday season helps in reminding the residents that they are cared for by community members and are not alone if they don’t have loved ones nearby.
Thank you to everyone who donated to make this event possible and a special thanks to niece, Sophia Sisneros and granddaughter, Hailey Cordova for volunteering to help during the event.
