LAAC News:
The Los Alamos Kite Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 26 & 27 at Overlook Park in White Rock.
This fun, free community event wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, Enterprise Bank and Trust, as well as Los Alamos Mainstreet and Creative District for their consistent support of this event.
Everything you need to know to have a high-flying day:
- Kite Festival is entirely free to everyone thanks to our sponsors, donors and community partners! From tee shirts to kite kits, we have everything you need to get a kite in the sky.
- Everyone flying a kite needs to check in at the main tent before going out onto the field. You’ll see two sets of check in tables: one for those who’ve brought their own kites and one for those who are here to build and customize their own.
- We will have volunteers guide children though how to design, decorate, and build your own kite at our kite-building station. Once you’ve finished, you start flying!
- Kite building workshops will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday.
- We have limited tee shirts to give away for free on a first-come, first-serve basis to children who have built kites. Check in early to secure yours!
- After you’ve had your fill of kite-flying on Saturday, head to PEEC’s 25th Anniversary Earth Day Festival!
- Sunday at 2 p.m., the Elk’s Lodge will have their postponed Easter egg hunt at Overlook Park, so bring your basket and stick around!
- The gallery at the Fuller Lodge Art Center will be closed Friday-Sunday .
