LAPS Wants To Put You In The Driver’s Seat

LAPS News:

As the song goes, “the wheels on the bus go round and round,” and you could be the one in the driver’s seat.

Los Alamos Public Schools is hiring bus drivers and substitute bus drivers for the upcoming school year.

Starting pay is $25.45 per hour for route drivers, and $30.95 per hour for substitute drivers.

“Driving a school bus for LAPS is a very rewarding experience,” said Director of Transportation Keith Rosenbaum. “The students can put a smile on your face during every trip.” It is also a job that can easily fit into one’s schedule, especially someone who is retired or looking for a second job. Training is available, as is financial assistance to obtain a CDL. Additional driving opportunities are available for athletic events and field trips.

LAPS employees are eligible for PTO, medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, YMCA membership and a retirement plan (NMERB). In addition, there are opportunities for continuing education and advancement, and enhanced retirement funding. Substitutes are not eligible for benefits.
