Friday Teen Movie Night Returns To SALA Aug. 15

JJAB News:

Los Alamos JJAB and SALA Event Center are thrilled to announce the return of Teen Movie Night. The return of the free movies kicked off last Friday, with 26 teens celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic JAWS. This coming Friday, Aug. 15, will be extra freaky, with the showing of the new sequel Freakier Friday.

This popular event offers a safe, fun, and engaging space for local high school teens to gather, socialize, and enjoy time with their peers.

Teen Movie Night has quickly become a favorite community event since its launch earlier this year, with over 100 teens attending the inaugural screening in April. Based on feedback and other community events, the program will transition to Saturday nights starting Sept. 6, providing more flexibility for teens to attend.

“We’re excited to bring Teen Movie Night back and make it even more accessible,” Rachel Mohr-Richards said, Executive Director of JJAB. “This collaboration with SALA is part of our ongoing commitment to support youth wellness, connection, and belonging.”

SALA owner Allan Saenz added, “We’re proud to continue offering this space for teens to relax and have fun. SALA is committed to being a community hub, and this program aligns perfectly with our mission.”

Details about each week’s movie will be posted on JJAB’s website and social media channels. SALA’s lobby will be open from 7:30–11 p.m., with the free movie showing at 8:30 p.m.

Teens can purchase food—Pi Pizza, concession stands, Italian soda, and more. VR is available for $15 and will be offered free at the second movie of the month starting in September. There will also be free Nintendo Switch, and other games.
