YMCA News:

The Family YMCA is thrilled to extend heartfelt thanks to the community for its overwhelming support of the Zumba Back-to-School Supply Drive, held last month in the Y gym.

The event drew over 60 enthusiastic participants, who not only joined in for an energetic Zumba session but also showed incredible generosity. Together, the community helped collect more than $125 worth of school supplies and an additional $220 in cash donations to support local students as they head back to school.

The Y’s dedicated Zumba team—Crystal C., Natalie S., and Warapha P.—led the event alongside special guest instructors Priya D. and Tony P. Tony, a Strong Nation and Zumba instructor and recent retiree from Albuquerque, traveled to Los Alamos to support the cause, bringing his passion and energy to the event. Everyone enjoyed the homemade Zumba cookies made by Jennifer M!

In addition to the success of the supply drive, The Family YMCA is excited to announce that Natalie Smith is returning as a regular Zumba instructor. She will be leading classes 9-10 a.m.  Mondays and Wednesdays, bringing her enthusiasm and expertise back to the weekly schedule.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who came out to dance, donate, and make a difference,” YMCA CEO Chris Daniels said. “Events like these highlight the power of community and the joy of giving back. We’re also thrilled to welcome Natalie back to our regular lineup—her classes are always full of energy and fun.”

The Family YMCA is committed to strengthening our community through programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Proceeds from the Zumba Back-to-School Supply Drive will directly benefit local students in need through our scholarship fund.
